A Bit About the Chapter

AHEPA Chapter 37 – Syracuse, NY

AHEPA Chapter 37 in Syracuse, New York, established in 1924, is one of the oldest and most active chapters in the state. Known for its deep civic engagement, it was the first in New York to build senior housing, opening a 50-unit AHEPA Home in 1992. The chapter honors Hellenic values through community service, cultural events, veterans' tributes, and educational initiatives—celebrating 100 years of commitment to faith, family, and philanthropy.

Recent Highlights

  • 100th Anniversary Gala (October 26, 2024): Held at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, over 150 guests celebrated with music by The Aegeans and DJ Dion. The chapter received the prestigious 100th – 10K Diamond Certificate from AHEPA Supreme Lodge.

  • Initiation & Awards: Regular events include the Christmas initiation, where new members were inducted and 100‑year service pins awarded by District 6 leadership. At annual ceremonies, loyalty awards were given to longstanding members like Peter Panels.

  • Veterans’ Commemorations: Chapter 37 actively honors veterans—with Memorial Day tributes at Oakwood Cemetery and Veterans Day ceremonies at St. Sophia’s. Veterans and fallen heroes are remembered annually, and Heroes Medals, Military Service Certificates, and appreciation awards are presented.
