The Passing of Brother George Possas

Sadly, and with heavy heart, our esteemed Brother George Possas has fallen asleep in the Lord on March 15, 2020, a victim of the Coronavirus. Brother George Possas, 93 years old, was the son of Hellenic immigrants. A veteran of WW2 he fought in several battles in the South Pacific, including the Battle of Hollandia in New Guinea and was later deployed in Hiroshima, Japan before his discharge in 1946. Brother George was a member of AHEPA Constantine Cassis Chapter No. 170 for 40 years and proud of his Hellenic Heritage. He served as a past president of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Paul in Hempstead and remained active in the church for many years. In 1984, Brother George became an Archon of the Order of Saint Andrew and proudly served the Patriarch until his passing.

On behalf of the Order of AHEPA District 6 Lodge and our member Chapters our sincere condolences to his family and friends during this challenging and trying period. May his memory be eternal.

Fraternally yours,

Brother Lou Katsos

AHEPA District 6 Governor
