Brothers:
Veterans Day observed annually on November 11 is a federal holiday in which we honor military veterans who have served in the United States armed forces. As discussed at the open to all members AHEPA District 6 Lodge meeting on Thursday we ask all Chapters in our great state to find a way to honor our veterans around that date whether hosting an event in your local community or church, etc. or visiting a local memorial, of which there are many around the state, and paying your respects. Please take pictures, write articles and send them to Brother Chris Pappis relating to this.
As a Memorial Day example Delphi Chapter #25 in Manhattan will be having a wreath laying ceremony on November 11 at the historic 107th Infantry Memorial (Fifth Avenue and 67th Street) at 12:30 PM on Wednesday in honor of our veterans. If in Manhattan and would like to attend please contact Delphi Chapter #25 Brother President Ted Klingos or Brother Argyris Argitakos. AHEPA Supreme President George Horiates and Brother Supreme Vice President Jimmy Kokotas will join us at this event for the ceremony. Brother Horiates will also present Brother George Venizelos, the former FBI Assistant Director in charge in New York, the new AHEPA Heroes medal and I will have the honor of receiving the “District Governor of the Year Award” bestowed earlier in the year. Stay safe, honor our veterans, and thank you for all the great things that you continually do. Best regards.
Fraternally yours,
Brother Lou Katsos
AHEPA District 6 Governor
